Scandinavian Festival Children Activities

Scandinavian Passports…When entering the Festival grounds, pick up your “Scandinavian Passport”. They are also available at the Information Booth. Then proceed to all of the country craft booths located in Kingsmen Park. At each booth, you can make a craft that is tied to each Scandinavian country. When you are done, you can get your passport stamped. Here are the crafts for the 2009 Festival:

Denmark: make a “rope” like they used to do in the old country paper cutting like Hans Christian Andersen

Finland: make a Finnish Christmas Star

Iceland: make a paper volcano make an Icelandic pony

Norway: color a paper plate using the rosemalning technique print a fish onto paper

Sweden: make a Dala horse puppet “make” a moose

Flag making

Soccer Clinic: Come measure your talent by going through a basic skills course and then see if you can score a penalty shot against a real goal keeper. Saturday 12.00-2.00.

Rasp a butter knife

Head wreaths: Make head wreath with real flowers and ribbon! Good for all ages and boys and girls, men and women alike.

Maypole: Starting with a parade at 2:30, we will raise the Maypole and dance around it while singing traditional songs.

Kubb: Come learn the ancient game of the Vikings. It’s a bit like horseshoes, but without horseshoes or the stake.

Croquet: Try your hand at hitting the balls through our Dala Horse hoops.>/

Labyrinth: A surprise this year!
